Meet The Team
Stuart L Morris • Founder and Director
I am the founder of the Institute of Professional Celebrants, the father of three sons, pilot, award winning lecturer in entrepreneurship at the Henley Business School and general lover of life. I took my first funeral in 1995 and I've been passionate about the rites of passage ever since.
Years ago, I recognized that most training organizations were only teaching to specific ceremonies; weddings or funerals, nothing encompassing all the many rites of passage. There was a massive void in the education offered and it was then that my entrepreneur-self kicked in and I realized I needed to start a training company. One with a diverse curriculum; teaching everything a celebrant would need to celebrate any milestone, transition or rite of passage. Thus, was born The Institute of Professional Celebrants, now the Number One training organization in the United Kingdom.
As human beings we have celebrated these moments in life throughout history and across all cultures. I fundamentally believe that as professional celebrants we bring joy, comfort and fulfilment to the people we serve. I like to say that I'm a minister without religion, of the “priesthood” for this generation
Susie Roberts • Student Services and Operations Manager
I am the Student Services and Operations Manager and I am here to make your learning experience as smooth as possible. If you choose to continue on to NOCN Level 3 Certification, I oversee the process and procedures and I will support you throughout your qualification. I am a mother of three grown children, a Registered Nurse, a former Nursing Director, and Life Coach. I love exploring, traveling, horseback riding, the outdoors, and I am a serial volunteer.
My position with IPC affords me the opportunity to utilize skills honed over many years. I’m a humanitarian at my core and I love to help people, as evidenced by my first career and subsequent path. I help people see themselves in the best light, achieve their highest potential and most importantly to celebrate life and all it’s many beautiful milestones; the rites of passage.
As the daughter of a celebrant father, my enthusiasm to help people embarking on their second act, new career in celebrancy, is perfectly aligned. At 49, I returned to University to earn an additional degree so I have experienced the journey of the older (or as I like to say, ‘wiser’) student learner.
Anita Onen • Administrative Coordinator
Hi I’m Anita I’m the web developer and graphic designer here at IPC HQ. I have over 10 years experience in visual design, now specialising in branding and website design for the wedding industry. It’s my job to manage our company's identity and create excellent websites that are easy to use and look great!
I also work closely with John (because we live together and work from home) and the rest of the team, in managing the logistics of our courses, in order to keep our online systems up to date.
I live in the West Midlands, I’m engaged to John and mum to three beautiful daughters. I’m a hoarder of fantasy books, black clothes, art supplies, and cake making equipment. When I’m not working I’m usually making a mess creating something, or dragging the family out for long walks somewhere hilly.
John Nicholson-Alexander • Tech Support and Administrator
Hi, I'm John. If you call or email IPC, there is a good chance that it will be me that responds. I am usually the first port of call for customer queries and general information before your course takes place.
I manage our pre-course systems, both online and residential to make sure everything runs smoothly and students have all the information they need. I came to IPC from a customer service background in hospitality and utilities. I'm data driven, and slightly obsessed with spreadsheets and guitars.
I live in the West Midlands with Anita, and I get the pleasure of being stepdad to her 3 beautiful daughters. I spend a lot of time playing my guitar, writing and recording music, and "fine tuning" my speaker setup.
Jacqueline Cale • Lead Trainer and Tutor/Assessor
Hi I’m Jacqueline, it’s great to meet you! I’m a Professional Wedding and Funeral Celebrant and have the good fortune to live and work between the UK and beautiful South West France.
With a background in Customer Service Management and Training, I’m definitely a ‘people-person’ and adore working with clients to create beautiful and very unique ceremonies that celebrate the milestone occasions in their lives. My Celtic roots and passion for literature and theatre come together in designing and writing ceremonies that combine a variety of traditional and modern content and symbolism - delivered with vibrancy and imaginative flair! I specialize in Family Celebrancy, including Weddings, Vow Renewal, and Baby-naming Ceremonies.
In my role as a Funeral Celebrant, I work with bereaved families to care and support them as they say a final goodbye to their loved ones. Researching, writing and delivering a Funeral Service and Tribute (Eulogy) is an intrinsic part of the Celebrant’s role and it’s an honor to be trusted with this work – one that I find both engaging and challenging.
As a member of the IPC training team, I’m delighted to be able to share my knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for this wonderful profession and to support you as you begin your journey towards an exciting new career.
Nikki Kulin • Trainer and Tutor
Hi, I am Nikki, mum of 4, and a Professional Wedding and Funeral Celebrant. I am fortunate enough to live between Sussex and the beautiful Costa del Sol where I have built a reputation as a destination Celebrant.
With a background in running the sales, marketing and customer service elements of a business for 18 years, and as a qualified teacher, I bring a range of skills to my Celebrancy. I specialize in creating bespoke ceremonies using my experience of creative writing and research. Each ceremony I write starts as a blank page and I absolutely love using my couple’s native tongue, their interests in music, literature or hobbies for research to create unique elements for their ceremony. I try to encompass a variety of sentiment, humor and style so everyone leaves the ceremony with lasting memories of the day.
I have trained as a Funeral Celebrant and in writing and conducting my own Father’s service, created a true celebration of his life and approach a funeral in the same creative style using the deceased interests, hobbies and taste in music as a basis to evoke memories.
I very much enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience as part of the IPC training team. I have a particular passion for social media and creating engaging content and look forward to working with you in your journey to become a Celebrant.
Shelley Jackson-Woodall • Trainer and Tutor
Hi, my name is Shelley and I am part of the IPC teaching team. I have previously worked in the education and charity sector, where I worked with families and young children. During this time, I also trained volunteers and staff and ran workshops and events.
After several years I began my own company and ran many successful shopping events, whilst supporting my local small business community. After attending and running networking events, I decided it was time to conquer my fear of public speaking and joined Stourbridge Speakers Club. I have been on the club Committee for over 10 years and enjoyed various roles, including Club President and Education Officer, as well as being in several speech competitions.
I now use my love of public speaking and my passion for inclusivity and diversity to lead ceremonies. It is my dream job and I can't wait to support you on your journey to becoming a celebrant.
Julie Bisacre • Lead Assessor and Trainer/Tutor
Hi, I’m Julie. It’s nice to meet you! I am a busy wedding and funeral celebrant, running a very successful business in North Somerset. I’m thrilled that you’ve chosen to join this amazing profession and train with IPC. After training as a teacher, I worked with a variety of students from age 4 to 60 years old.
This has given me a great insight into how people 'learn’ - enabling me to be a very versatile teacher/trainer while making learning accessible (and fun) for everyone. Along with my celebrant business, I also run a successful independent retail business, which means wearing many hats in my day to day life: bookkeeper, marketing manager and general dogsbody!
I have a passion for theatre and the arts and this permeates through my writing and my ceremonies. My sense of performance helps make my ceremonies memorable.
